Guild members enjoyed another wonderfully serene and productive weekend at our third annual retreat March 8th - March 10th, 2013 at Viña de Lestonnac in Temecula. Quilters made good use of the time to complete
individual projects, work on new techniques and learn from one another. So much was accomplished in a lovely environment with supportive colleagues.

The Santa Monica Quilt Guild welcomed RITA VERROCA! Rita Verroca is an award-winning quilter whose quilts have been exhibited in the USA, Europe and Japan. Her quilts have been on the covers of magazines
and have been featured in calendars and quilt books. She has won awards in international competitions and shows. Rita is a passionate teacher with great skill and contagious enthusiasm. In her quilts she combines heritage quilt patterns with delightful and playful arrangements.

"Gently Curved Pieced Quilts."Guild members enjoyed the individualized, hands on experiences, and were enthusiastically inspired by Karla to discover and create unique pieces. This was a great workshop!

A lovely afternoon spent enjoying old and new friends, sharing quilts, tea and yummy nibbles!
March 23-25 Guild members enjoyed a wonderfully serene weekend at our second retreat working on quilting and other projects at the retreat center at Vina de Lestonnac in Temecula. Quilters brought their individual projects in various stages of completion. It's amazing how much can be accomplished in such a lovely environment with such supportive colleagues.

The July 6, 2011 Guild Meeting featured the Guild's Annual Summer Potluck Supper! Special visitors Vicki and Lucy Gracen from Brisbane, Australia joined us for an evening of friendship, fun and quilt business. Juanita, Laurie, Prima, Suzanne, Sheila and Phyllis were among SMQG members to enjoy the meeting. Lucy and Vicki shared Australian fabrics.

It was a beautiful afternoon to welcome quilters to the Santa Monica Quilt Guild.
The second in the "SKILL BUILDING SESSIONS" organized by the Santa Monica Quilt Guild Vice Presidents took place on Saturday, March 12, 2011. Laurie Reyen and Judy LaCoss taught techniques for STRING PIECING.
The Saturday February 5, 2011 "Quilt As You Go Table Runner ~ Betty Cotton Method" Workshop taught by Certified Cotton Theory Instructor Jeane Starkey and guild member Susanne Cole was a big success.
