60" X 72"

The 2009 Santa Monica Quilt Guild Opportunity Quilt raffled at the Santa Monica Quilt Show in June, 2009. 100% of the proceeds were donated to benefit The Westside Food Bank and Military Women in Need.

The quilt was designed by Sally Wright and Sherry Kleinman and made by members of the Santa Monica Quilt Guild.

Our thanks to authors Judy Mathieson (Mariner's Compass Quilts: Setting A New Course; New Process, New Patterns, New Projects ) and Peggy Martin (Quick-Strip Paper Piecing: For Blocks, Borders and Quilts) for permission to use their paper pieced stars in the design for t
his charity quilt.

A variety of commercial batiks, hand dyes and printed cottons were used in the paper pieced stars and the four appliqué roundels which were hand appliquéd by Guild members. The free motion quilting was done on a domestic machine.
